random

Just a bunch of randomness....

1. My celebrity crush is Tom Selleck. Is that weird? Am I a 40 year old woman? Seriously though if you've seen Three Men and a Baby and or Three Men and a Little Lady,  then you know what i'm talking about.

2. I never use dish towels. Never ever. I don't like them. They gross me out. So I use like 100 paper towels and clorox wipes a day. Sorry Ozone.

3. Brandon and I eat chips and red pepper hummus every single Sunday when we get home from church. I have no idea why we started this tradition but let me tell ya...if we come home from church to an empty hummus container...oh man its a sad sad day.

4. I make Brandon dance with me to the ending credits of the movies we watch. He loves it (he  hates it). It might seem kinda ridiculous but its actually really fun and we usually end up laughing hysterically with (at) each other. Poor Avery is going to grow up thinking that all families do this and will humiliate herself when she gets up to dance after watching a movie at a friend's house.

5. I've been reading the book Call the Midwife and am now completely obsessed with how women had children before epidurals, ultrasounds or even hospitals. Sometimes late at night I want to discuss pregnancy and child birth with Brandon. He loves it when I do this and contributes a lot of his thoughts and feelings.

6. I don't really love Julia Roberts. She's fine I guess, but I definitely prefer Sandra Bullock. My favorite movie of all time is While You Were Sleeping. My second favorite is Apollo 13. Third is
Troop Beverly Hills.

7. My dad makes the best toast EVER. I know you're probably thinking that toast it toast. Believe me I used to feel the same way. I don't know what he does, but its just tastes better than everyone else's.

8. Miley Cyrus should be grounded for a very, very long time.

9. Brandon and I play card games a lot. Well we really only play one game, california speed. Oh and by playing I mean I win every single time. So, its pretty fun.

10. Did you know that when you move to London you're supposed to buy lots of cute coats, scarves and sweaters? Brandon didn't know this either which surprised me because I thought it was a pretty well known rule. And since i'm a rule follower...let the shopping begin (continue).

Here are some obligatory  pictures of Lady Aves. I can't resist.

babies

I thought of this sweet poem today while I played with Avery.
My house looked like a disaster, the dishes needed to be done and I hadn't even thought of what we would have for dinner.
I had so much I thought I needed to get done,
but spending time with my little bug was much more important.

Mother, oh Mother, come shake out your cloth,
Empty the dustpan, poison the moth,
Hang out the washing and butter the bread,
Sew on a button and make up a bed.
Where is the mother whose house is so shocking?

She’s up in the nursery, blissfully rocking.
Oh, I’ve grown shiftless as Little Boy Blue
    (Lullaby, rockaby, lullaby loo).
Dishes are waiting and bills are past due
    (Pat-a-cake, darling, and peek, peekaboo).
The shopping’s not done and there’s nothing for stew
And out in the yard there’s a hullabaloo
But I’m playing Kanga and this is my Roo.
Look! Aren’t her eyes the most wonderful hue?
    (Lullaby, rockaby, lullaby loo).

The cleaning and scrubbing will wait till tomorrow,
For children grow up, as I’ve learned to my sorrow.
So quiet down, cobwebs. Dust go to sleep.
I’m rocking my baby and babies don’t keep.

simple

Today I am grateful for my simple life.
I'm grateful for my simple family.
I am grateful that I am simply a mother and a wife.
I'm grateful for our simple little apartment.
I'm grateful for my simple marriage that is based on lots of love and laughter.
I'm grateful for our simple nights spent at home together in our jammies watching reruns.
I'm grateful for my simple days spent at home with Avery.
I'm grateful that the simplest things make her smile and rejoice!
I'm grateful for our simple things.
I'm grateful that I grew up in a simple home.
I'm grateful that we were never taught to strive for the newest, fanciest or most expensive.
I am grateful for the simple moments each day that make me smile.
I am grateful for my simple friends.
I am grateful for my simple testimony.
I am grateful for my simple prayers that are heard.
I am grateful for my simple dreams that have come true.
I am grateful that living my simple life makes me simply happy!

Shred

So for the past week Brandon and I have been doing the
30 Day Shred
(aka 30 days of pure torture)

Before this week I kinda thought I was in shape.
I knew I wasn't in great shape,
but you know I go on runs and walks and stuff.
(chuckle)
I was wrong.

Its been fun for Brandon and I to do together and
has been the best home workout video I've ever tried...
and I've tried a lot.
We're still just eating like we normally do, which is relatively healthy.
I'm a girl that's gonna eat a cookie and some cake every now and then.
 Hey,
YOLO

(Mom, YOLO means..You Only Live Once! All the kids and the Kardashians are saying it.)

Anyway, hopefully in 30 days we'll look like movie stars!
Realistically we probably wont look different at all, but I know we'll feel better.

                                                                Dear Jillian,
Sorry that sometimes while I'm doing the video I think mean thoughts
about you, and i'm extra sorry that sometimes I say them out loud.
Thanks for kicking my buns everyday.  I've never been sweatier.

Love,
an out of shape housewife
